About Us

Past

Our History – Built on the Kindness of Others

Founded in 1988 through the generosity, vision and bequest of T.T. (Jack) Skov in his estate, the RGC Fund was chartered and incorporated as the Rotary Club of Guelph Charitable Foundation on April 22, 1988.

A Board of Directors, chaired by local businessman Don Bower, all of whom were members of the Rotary Club of Guelph and who served in a volunteer capacity, had its first meeting on July 4, 1989.  From these beginnings, the RGC Fund began its life as an Agent of Change for good in Guelph and Wellington County.

Present

Today, the Fund is still administered entirely by volunteers, all of whom are Past Presidents of the Rotary Club of Guelph. They raise money; consider requests for help; often become actively engaged in the projects that the fund supports; disburse funds and constantly review the giving landscape for opportunities to help.

As a result, the Fund’s operating costs are less than 1% of all funds raised, one of the lowest possible administration-to-gift ratios (legal and audit are our only costs). When you donate to the Fund, you know that your gift will go directly to help others with no middle-man costs to reduce their impact.

The operating name of the Fund- the RGC Fund – was created in 2017.

Since 1988, we’ve quietly been raising and donating funds to support cornerstone community projects that make a wonderful difference to the quality of life for as many people as possible. Whether these projects involve health care, the arts, education, international development, the young and the not-so-young, community history or rural development, the RGC Fund has been a quiet but vital partner in their development; a friend and support to those who would like to sustain the very best of life for all of us, in every corner of this wonderful community we all call home.

Future

We invite you to join with us as we look ahead to the next decades and to the projects that, working with your gifts and generosity, we can help to accomplish.
